About the Moorschnucke

The moorland snouts are threatened with extinction, as they do not play a major role in meat and wool marketing. They have neither heavy carcasses nor fattening, nor do they have very fine wool. They are predestined for landscape maintenance, especially for bogs, wetlands or rough meadows. With their golden step and their selective feeding behavior, they can consolidate the sward and find good forage plants even under the most extreme conditions. They bite the green very deeply. Even under normal conditions, the bog snouts can feel comfortable if one maintains good pasture management.

On the next few pages I will introduce the breed, my herdbook breeding and the landscape maintenance that I practice with the Moorschnucken. Since I regularly offer bucks or ewes for sale, I have set up a separate page for my animals for sale, on which I will present them with pictures. And last but not least, there is a sheep blog in which I record all the important stages in my herdbook breeding and landscape management.
